Writing top content is the key to gain readers for your blog, but at the same time marketing it and putting in front of your audience is as much important.

We bloggers usually have social media channels where we share new content whenever it is out, this can be a tiring process if you have a lot of social media channels and also if you create frequently. Though there are some tools or plugins that help you automate this process.

Sharing newly created content is fine, but what about your old content? There is a high probability that your shares were missed by many when you shared the first time.

You might have gained new followers or page likes and your old content may still relevant, for eg: Resharing a news article may not be appropriate but resharing a cooking recipe you posted or a technical article you wrote is highly recommended.

Resharing old content can boost your traffic and create more engagement on you social media channels. Now, bloggers who already know the importance of resharing their old content, find it difficult to do so coz it requires them to manually select content and put it out on social media.

Even me along with my friends who are also bloggers (Shahid Shaikh of @codefoegeek is one of them) have been struggling to do so. So we decided to solve the problem, and created SPARK.

Spark is a service built by bloggers for bloggers. Spark helps bloggers automatically share old WordPress content to their social media channels. Spark is currently in beta and supports WordPress blogs. It has a very easy setup and you can get started in a matter of minutes.

Steps to setup

Create an account

Head over to the Spark website and signup. It will ask you to verify your email. Once done you can login.

Install Plugin

Spark uses a lightweight plugin to extract articles from your website. Your WordPress blog must have it installed and activated. You can get the plugin via this link.

Create a Scheduler

Creating a scheduler is dead simple. Once logged in click on the create button to start the setup wizard.

Step 3 – Authorize Twitter

With Twitter, you will have to authorize spark on your Twitter handle. So then spark can share your website content on Twitter.

Configure Scheduler

The final step is to configure your scheduler. That means to tell Spark when you want to your posts to be shared. Right now Spark supports multiple sharing strategies including weekly and daily. Choosing the right strategy is really important. If you have less no of articles to share go will a less frequent strategy.

Pro Tip – If you have a large base of articles go for a frequent sharing strategy

Click on the create button and you are done.

The beta version Spark allows you to have upto 5 schedulers. And it is completely free. You can always manage your schedulers from the list menu.

Conclusion

Spark is an amazing tool to automate content sharing for your website. It’s easy to use and is completely free. Spark keeps your old content alive and drives more traffic to your website and increases user engagement n your social media channels. Now webmasters/bloggers can concentrate on creating fresh content or may just watch netflix while Spark automatically keeps sharing your content.

So head over to Spark and start setting up your schedulers.
